Total immersion is without question one of the best ways to quickly learn spoken Spanish, well that is to learn real spoken Spanish . . . but it needs a solid plan with a number of crucial elements.

You should combine:

  • a good comprehensive, preferably concentrated course, with a good teacher with whom you can converse and interact for concentrated periods. . . .

  • have an effective Spanish vocab learning system, from which you should be learning at least 200 Spanish words a day. A large bagful of vocabulary broadens out your language base and gives you lots of 'weapons in the learning Spanish armoury'. This is now possible with modern superlearning techniques and CD-Rom software and within the grasp of the ordinary individual. Spend more effort initially on vocab rather than for grammar but do. . .

  • learn some basic grammar & also get to understand how to form verbs in Spanish. There are some basic patterns you should learn and there are easy and hard ways to do this! Click here for an easy way.

    Initially however, do not get too hung up on perfecting grammar,

  • learn phrases…., use them and make loads of mistakes. The more mistakes and errors and faux pas that you make, the more you will improve your learning Spanish, by getting them corrected,

  • then put it all in to practice, by only talking Spanish to locals. Old people and little kids are good to talk to when learning Spanish, as they both love to talk!

    Avoid anyone who speaks your native tongue, unless they too only speak Spanish with you(no matter what level).
